Susan is a  qualified counsellor who has been working on the North Shore of Auckland since 2006. Her main therapy work in her earlier professional working life involved connecting with youth and young adults as a registered teacher working as a guidance counsellor in local high schools and as a founder of the Bays Youth Community Trust.  Through this she has gained valuable insight into what support is needed for people to find hope and success in their lives.  NOW IS THE TIME Counselling Practice was started in 2016 which has now become Urban Minds Limited in 2022.

Susan was born in Japan to kiwi parents and lived there to the age of 16 so has an unique quality which allows her to connect with people.  Sports, culture, learning and family are her passions in life.  These help her to practice from a non-judgmental and supportive place which brings healing and meaning back into lives.

Susan gained her Master's degree in counselling from the University of Auckland in 2006 and has been a full member of the New Zealand Association of Counsellors since 2007. 

Susan completed her training in EMDR Therapy in 2021 with EMDR Institute and has become passionate about the power of the process to bring around positive change for people.  This has given her the desire to start offering EMDR Therapy as a focus therapy model in her practice and is now an accredited practitioner.
